Welcome!  And thank you for visiting the new online home of Democracy for the USA.  This website contains at no cost the downloadable full-length book The Racket and the Answer, a couple of shorter excerpted versions of the book, and numerous other documents.  You are encouraged to download, print, copy, and distribute all of this material.  Help spread the idea of democracy, a more direct and genuine idea of democracy -- an idea whose time has come.

Our basic message is encapsulated in the following proposition:

The problem : oligarchy.

The solution : democracy.

And since we're on the subject of "firsts", here is...

dUSA's 1st television program:

" S H O U L D    A M E R I C A    A T T E M P T    D E M O C R A C Y  ? "

...which was aired on CAN-TV       RCN cable channel 21.

" We, the people, the vast majority--that is, more than 99% of us--are not a special interest group.  We are the stuff and substance of this society.  As such we need a government that speaks for us, a government that is sensitive to the ecosystem and responsive to local needs and small-scale enterprises.  We need a government that has a human face to it, a government in which local voices, sensitive to day-to-day realities, exercise power on behalf of the common good.  We need a democracy."

 dUSA's "DO NOT VOTE!" campaign:

Ted Aranda's speech, given at the College of Complexes on Democracy for the USA's

Anti-election/"Don't Vote" campaign, can be read in full by clicking here.

"Those who dissent from the status quo are continually faced with a significant question that is often asked with hostile intent:  " So what’s your solution? "  Contrary to some left opinion, the question is not inherently a method of suppressing or ridiculing dissent and the struggle to answer it is not inherently dogmatic or reformist. The failure to provide or even attempt solid answers is arguably a great moral and intellectual failure of the left, especially in a time when existing political-economic arrangements so clearly threaten

     human survival."

                                                                                               ~Paul Street

" So what's our solution? "

DEMOCRACY for the USA is abundantly clear when presenting our solution: democracy.

Democracy for the USA :

[ If you want to see specifically what degree of change we espouse, you can click directly to our proposed Constitution for a Democratic United States of America.  Everything we call democracy is based on the form of government laid out in this new model constitution.

Once  again  . . .

THE USA IS NOT A DEMOCRACY...!

Not even close.  It's an OLIGARCHY--the rule of the few; and a PLUTOCRACY--the rule of the rich. Same thing with our states, counties, and cities.  The political system of "representation"--president and congress, governors and state legislatures, county commissioners, mayors and their city councils--is modern day tyranny.  In days past we had the absolute rule of kings. Today we have the absolute rule of a tiny elite.  That they are elected is merely a Hobson's choice, and tantamount to being allowed to choose your own executioner.  In the end, does it really matter which one swings the axe?

The fact that the U.S. is an oligarchy is key to understanding the abysmal state of politics in this country.  It explains why the economy is run for the benefit of the rich and the large multinational corporations and not for the benefit of the workers, who struggle just to survive.  It also is the reason why our earth is being pillaged mercilessly and the consequent climate change and global warming are allowed to run rampant.  It's becoming the norm to suffer one weather crisis after another with increasing frequency and severity.  And "our" politicians sit on their hands.

Everyday Americans have common sense and appreciate the wonders of nature.  To many corporate bosses, on the other hand, the earth is nothing more than a huge ATM--there to be squeezed to the last drop and last dollar at literally any cost environmentally.

Oligarchy explains why the U.S. military is killing people left and right overseas.  How can this killing benefit the average American?  It can't and it doesn't.  But imperialism is the way of the ruling class.  World economic conquest is their aim; war crimes are par for the course under their regime.  As for our civil liberties, they're little more than minor speed bumps to our rulers, who ignore them as irksome nuisances.

Here in Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is a virtual dictator--following in the grand tradition of Daley I and Daley II.  These men have all believed that Chicago is their city to do with as they alone wish. Emanuel's goal is to amass and wield power by serving his coterie of rich patrons and corporate backers through a privatizing agenda while squeezing every last penny from Chicagoans through gargantuan fees and fines, gutted public institutions (such as our schools), and reduced public services.

There are no two ways about it: if we want to change the way things operate in this city and this country--rather than suffer endless assaults on our collective well-being while witnessing the destruction of the planet--it is imperative that we replace the current dysfunctional system of government with democracy...with the rule of the people.  We have little alternative--and very little time.

Meet with us to discuss the present and the potential future every other Wednesday evening in CHICAGO GRIND at 7:00pm on the SW corner of Berwyn & N. Broadway.  There is good coffee and the potential for growing a movement for democracy available.  All are welcome, naturally!!   ~~ SPECIFIC MEETING TIMES ARE ABOVE, IN THE SIDEBAR ~~

News . . .

DUSA co-founders Ted Aranda and Bob Moore were back in the studio Feb. 7th taping the second program the organization has completed since its inception a little more than one year ago.

Now in post-production, the program should be ready for airing by March.  Of course we'll let you know once there is a firm date.

If you miss the broadcasts, you can still view the program here on our website or on YouTube.

dUSA hosted Democracy Forum 2014 at Multikulti on April 5th at 1:00pm.  Paul Street was our keynote speaker and CAN-TV videotaped the event for broadcast. A video of the forum is located in the middle of our Homepage.

On January 25th, Ted Aranda gave a talk at the College of Complexes pertaining to both the Occupy movement and Democracy For The USA.  View a video of that talk by clicking here.  You can also read the speech by clicking here. ****Aranda has delivered another speech--Democracy for America: Anti-election/DON'T VOTE Campaign--on Saturday, July 5th at 6:00 PM at the College's new location on Foster at California.  Click here to read.  You can watch the video of the July 5th speech right now on our Homepage.

          UPCOMING TALK:

Ted Aranda will be giving a new presentation to the College of Complexes on many of the implications surrounding the somewhat mind-numbing events that occurred on September 11, 2001, in NYC, Washington DC, and a field somewhere in Pennsylvania.  Very strange circumstances are involved in the events of that day at all three of the sites.  Very, very strange...
